Whats your favourite Winter Fashion?

I’m sick of magazines, television, fashion shows constantly showing ridiculously skin and bone models as sexy. I don’t consider this sexy or feminine. I don’t want to look like them. I don’t want my Nieces to see these images and want to be like them “when I grow up’. Horrible skin and bone women, unhealthy skelator creatures.

I’ve had a revelation, an ‘A-Ha’ moment, after years of weight oppression, self doubt and low self esteem, I don’t want to be skeleton skinny. WOOP-WOOP!!!
The average Australian woman weighs 70kg and the average dress size is a 16.
I would like to be healthy, maybe a little fitter, but I’m NOT concerned with that number glaring from the scale anymore. Huzzah!

I love the vintage pin-ups of old. Voluptuous women celebrating legs and thighs and breasts and soft tummies. They are incredibly sexy, proud and confident.
I LOVE real models in campaigns for Capriosca Swimwear, and Elomi Lingerie, Spanx and shape wear. I’m going to be proud of being female. Breasts & Bum, Tummy & Thighs! Encouraged by current styles, designed for me and other voluptuous women. I feel sexy in this lingerie. Covered in a Basque but incredibly desirable. Silky in chemises, skimming over the bad and accentuating the good. A fabulous pair of stockings.
The best thing I’ve found is that a good bra lifts you up and VOILA – I have a waist! Who knew?

Todd Mall was aflutter with activity when we opened the doors this morning.  At 10.30am, those in the annual Henley on Todd Regatta Parade trundled down the mall with much fun and fanfare on the way to the banks of the river, and it was great to see locals and tourists out in force to support this great event.  Run by volunteers from the three rotary clubs of Alice Springs, this year the event turns 51, and claims the title of ‘the Territory’s longest running iconic event.  All of the proceeds from Henley on Todd go to humanitarian projects both within Australia and overseas, so it really is a great cause that brings out the more athletic side of many competitors (its harder than one would think to run down a dry river bed holding a ‘yacht’ made of empty beer cans around your waist!).  A big shout out to all of the volunteers who make Henley on Todd fabulous every year!

Unfortunately we missed it last year due to illness, but in 2010 one of the pirates proposed to his wench, which was lovely – and is a great story for the grandkids! 

Its a lovely day here in Alice Springs too – the sun is shining but the air temp is cool and there are a few clouds, perfect weather for shovelling sand into a 44 gallon drum or paddling your canoe down the dry river bed.  Maybe not for the water cannons, but unless you are on one of the battle boats that shouldnt be a problem.

The only question for now is who will win the 2012 Battle Boat Spectacular – the Pirates, the Vikings or the Navy?!
